WW1 3/Monmouthshire Regiment Paperwork Group.
Small grouping that belonged to a George Lewis from Abergavenney who served with the 3rd Monmouthshire Regiment. According to his paybook he joined at the age of 14 on 8.3.12 served in France from 1917 and was found no longer physically fit, he had a gun shot to his leg but no evidence of when this happened. The group consist of two paybooks, his first starting in 1914 and finishes half way through 1915, all home service. The second starts 17.2.17 and finishes 7.11.17 and all pay is ''in field''. His large red ''Army Form B'' again has all his service details as do a number of diffrent bits of paperwork including a nice list of items he would need when joining, dated 1914.There are 6 photos, two have pictures of serving soldier but im afraid no cards are annotated, a large piece of German shrapnel and a neat little trench made mirror with a hanging hook to the rear, lastly a nice WW1 rank stripes to a corporal This little lot recently turned up during a house clearance in Abergavenny and is new to the market.
