1915 Dated M1898/05 Butcher Bayonet, Transitional, Matching Numbers.

A very nice butcher bayonet that i would call a transitional piece due to the bayonet having ''ears'' but also having a flash guard on the handle spine. The wooden grips are in nice condition with the metal fittings having no pitting just minimal staining, top of the pommel has two Imperial inspection stamps as does the cross guard and fixing button. The blade again is in very nice condition with no pitting just some staining, its marked to the firm of C.G.Haenel and has the date mark 15 stamped to the spine. The leather scabbard is in the same condition as the bayonet, very nice with supple leather and tight stitching. The top of the throat has two Imperial crown inspection stamps as does the bottom chape. There's the added bonus in that both bayonet and scabbard have matching numbers being 2.3.1.
