Russian Volunteer M35 Combat Helmet.
Relic condition M35 helmet with a very nice hand painted two colour, red and white, shield to one side. Id say the helmet has 40 % of its period finish to the outside of the shell with the side area were the shield is having being protected over the years. The inside still has its steel inner frame with all pins present.
Now to what i would call the ''money shot'', that is the white and red painted shield used by Russian Volunteers serving in the German army, the condition is over 85% present with lots of crazing to the paint finish, its clear and period to the helmet. I purchased the helmet from someone who picked it up in Belgium in the late 1970's whilst on holiday, Russians Volunteers were stationed in the Normandy area in 1944 and would have been pushed back through Belgium during the retreat. A rare and facinating piece of history even in this condition.
