German Regiment Marked french 1886 Chassepot Bayonet.

This example has been reissued to German rear echelon troops at some point, no modifications to the bayonet but the cross guard is clearly marked,117.L.I.4.244. The blade has some surface staining only and a couple of minor knocks to the cutting edge, hard to capture in the photos. Spine is maker marked, St-Etienne, and the date 1864. The brass handle is in nice condition with a certain amount of patina, no i have not taken out the can of brasso for a nice clean, and the fixing button is free. The steel scabbard is free of dents and a very faint 4 letter number can be seen at the throat, no other markings to be found.
