WW2 German M16 Feuerschutzepolizei Helmet.

This is a WW1 M16 combat helmet that was used during WW2 by the rescue service. Its had a rough coat of black finish, close to 100% remaining, brushed over the WW1 finish that can be seen in certain areas of damaged top coat. The inside skirt has also received a black over paint. Two of the period liner pins remain , one has been period replaced with a steel rivet of sorts. The early leather liner is in my opinion the original to the helmet going by the liner pin arms and the marks around this area. Two of the liner pads remain but there padding has gone, the front pad has been period repaired at some point, the type of period materials used can be clearly seen in what remains. I cannot make out any makers stamp due to the black over finish, some of the original WW1 finish can be made out to the inside crown. A good example of the expedient use of material used on the German Home Front.
