French M1874 ''Gras'' Bayonet and Leather Frog. Steyr Maker. Matching Numbers.
One of the 200,000 M1874 produced by the Austrian firm of Steyr for the French Government. As seen in the pictures i would rate this example as being in exceptional condition, i could even say hard to upgrade. The blade has marks to the top from the inside scabbard runners and even has its factory buffing to the top of the spine near the handle, the makers details are sharp and not lost any definition. The cross guard has lovely chocolate finish with clear stamp details and rifle number that matches the scabbard, so a matching numbered example! The wooden grips are in very nice condition with lets say just a couple of bruises and the brass pommel has some staining and has not been polished, fixing button in working condition with tight spring. The steel scabbard has all its factory finish with no knocks or dents and the period leather frog is in perfect condition. As mentioned previously this would be a hard to upgrade example and even better being made by the Steyr firm.
