1943 ''Theater Made'' Knife. Scout.

Hand made pair of knives with the handles being constructed from rings of leather, aluminium and hard plastic similar to the handles found produced ''in theater'' by serving soldiers. Cross guards are made from brass, larger example, and aluminium on the smaller one. The blades appear to be made from kitchen knives of sorts and both have had a name, Norman.A.Patrick, and 1943 date hammered with a tiny metal point. The scabbard has been made from three layers of leather held together with copper wire threaded through the body, boy scout emblem has been cut into the bottom area. Both strap poppers are working and complete.
When i purchased the knife i didn't take much notice, finding that the set was completely hand made and going by the ring handles and the scabbard belt mount being the size for a 37 pattern belt i am of the opinion that the set might well have been made by a serving soldier for his kid which makes the set a lot more interesting and worth adding to a collection. I imagine the boy was well happy when his dad brought this out of his kit bag!!
