British 1938 Dated MKII Steel Helmet.

This example is very clean and has a factory olive tan type finish to the shell inside and outside. This finish is nearly 100% complete. At some point a slight darker wash was added to the outside and inside skirt. The only markings to be found to the shell is the 1938 dated chinstrap bales, both are slightly loose and held by copper rivets. The first pattern liner system is complete and very clean with a clear makers stamp and dated 1938 or 1939, bottom half of the date is not clear. Inside, one arm has a clear paper label for the firm J.Compton. Chinstrap again very clean and complete. Has the helmet been factory refurbished with an olive tan finish, the color might suggest a later campaign. One thing i do know is that its had little use and according to the seller belonged to an RAF officer, his initials can be found to the back of the helmet, T.G.E.
