British 1887 MKI Sword Bayonet. Enfield.
Hope you like shed found bayonets as that's what i've got to offer you today. Came from the same area as the German 1898 i listed last week, same shed??? Not sure on that but the same ''walk in'' seller. Anyway this example has has a sleepy time for sure with the blade surviving very well having good finish and staining with a couple of good rust spots mainly to the bottom near the tip wear the blade has rested against the inside chape for years. Both sides of the blade have clear markings. The hilt has surface rust and the top pommel button has lost its head, it will need a good paraffin soak to get it loose. The 4 rivet handle has survived very well with no chips or cracks just one edge shrinkage. I can just make out a number stamped to the bottom tang and a clear rifle number to the cross guard. The leather scabbard is complete , metal fittings as the hilt covered in a thin layer of rust and the bottom chape just hanging on by a slither of leather. Not sure there's anything else i can add except if your into shed find early Victorian sword bayonets then this will fit the bill.
