Prussian Feuwehr , Fire Service, Leather Helmet. Menden

This Fire service helmet is constructed like the Imperial Pickelhaube and dates from the 1920's. The leather body has no dents but the surface finish has suffered from crazing and has lost an area to the left side above the district plate and a minor chip to the back. Both front and rear visors are tightly stitched to the body and front visor metal trim securely fixed. Top metal comb without damage. Both Prussian color cockades are period with a certain amount of paint loss. The chinstrap is supple and complete except for the missing tip. The front metal district plate for North Rhine city of Menden has a nice amount of finish present. The inside liner system is complete and supple with the owners name scratched along the top edge.
