Leather Hobnail Boots. WW1 Pattern?
I would describe these as old new stock as they have never been worn. I have not polished them as i thought you would like to see them in there natural state. The leather is supple considering they have never had any polish or dubbing applied and the bottoms have there full ''nails'' intact. The leather laces where found with the boots. One boot has a makers name ''Dryfoot'' stamped to the bottom , this firm made boots in the Bristol area and turned over production during WW1 to making boots for the Military. Dating these will be a problem, 1920's/30's perhaps but other than the extra side rivet and front plate to the bottoms they do follow the WW1 pattern even down to being produced in brown leather and a black stain applied, so until you can find or afford an original example these would make a nice addition to a WW1 mannequin or wear them in your trench folks! Mind you they are also perfect for a Homefront scene or just wear them as they do not make boots like these anymore. They are size stamped 7.
