Cardiff WW2 KIA Medal Group with Buckingham Palace Note. SS Harmonic, 1943. U-172.

Poignant group of medals belonging to a local Cardiff family named Dugine. The group consists of two sets of medals one being to Albert Dugine who was a fireman and trimmer on board the cargo steamer SS.Harmonic, ship was sunk on the 15th of July 1943 by U-172 captained by Carl Emmermann on his 5th patrol. Harmonic was on her way back to Britain from South America. The three medals, his entitlement as found on the medal award slip are in good condition, might have been mounted for display at one point and the Buckingham Palace Sympathy message is in nice condition with Dugine's name and ship to the back. I also purchased from the family a mounted group of four medals to a Gunner A. Dugine who served in the RA from 42 to 47 as stated on his record service slip found with the medals, father of brother perhaps? Cardiff address found on the RA slip, 94 Wilson Road, Ely, Cardiff.
