WW1 Dedicated Trench Watch. Lieut Askew, 2/2nd Monmouthshire Regiment. MC Winner 1918, Warwickshire Regiment.

A nice used silver marked watch with a very nice and crisp dedication from the NCO's of the 2/2 Mon Regiment in 1915. 2nd Lt Askew served with the 2nd Battalion of the Monmouthshire regiment when they landed in France in 1916, at some point he was attached to the Warwickshire Regiment as Captain and Quarter Master being awarded the MC in 1918 for conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty leading pack mules through heavy shelling.
The watch face has faded numerals but is in working condition, i say working as im using the side winder for 3 winds only just to make sure i do not over wind the mechanism, with this the watch runs for around 3 hours keeping time with a little shake. The inside case has a clear silver mark 925 to both covers and as seen in the photo the mechanism would appear to be in very good order. Strap is a later replacement.
