1930's German Hirschfanger, Hunting Dagger. Carl Eickhorn.

A nice 1930's made hunting dagger in untouched condition, no cleaning and definitely no ''Brasso'' polishing! The stag handle with three acorns has no damage, chips or cracks. The brass pommel, cross guard and clam shell have a very nice patina, matches the acorns. The blade is a triple etched example with sharp detail including small arms, cannon, drums and scroll work with a clear 1930/40's pattern Eickhorn trade mark. Blade condition is very good with some staining and the just some minor water stains to the very tip. I have not tried to clean the blade and i believe with a little effort the blade will come up even better. Blade still has its period green washer. The leather scabbard has tight stitching until the top 10mm going under the top mount. Both brass fittings again with plenty of patina matching the dagger fittings. The blade stays proud of the top mount around 5mm, placing the dagger against the scabbard, side by side, there is around 2mm in size difference indicating at least some shrinkage or perhaps repair but i cannot find anything that's recent so its a bit of a mystery! I have taken this into consideration when pricing the dagger.
