2nd Pattern Kriegsmarine Dagger. ''GI'' Factory Souvenir.
The overall appearance is very nice with great matching period finish to all parts. The grip is the wooden type covered in celluloid and has its undamaged wire. The pommel has nice detail and a very nice amount of gilt finish. Cross guard again with nice detail and finish and produced without a ''release button'', it never had one! The scabbard again with nice sharp detail with both hanging bands having nice sharp detail with three grooves. Top scabbard screws appear never to have been messed with. The blade is not the usual KM type, its a factory produced example but unfinished near the tip, blade has full factory grain and the tang has its full billet clam.. All this makes me believe that this example was put together in 1946 for sale to the American GI market, or lets say even for the British Tommy market as souvenirs to take back home. This example shows all evidence of always being together.
NOT FOR SALE TO UNDER 18'S AND UK ONLY!
