WW1 French Trench Knife. M16. GONON.

A very nice Model 1916 trench knife with a very nice blade with some staining but loads of factory grain and one knock to one cutting edge. Clear ''41'' over the word ''GRONO'' to one side. The cross guard again stained with a letter ''B'' stamped to one side. The wooden handle is very nice with just one tiney knock to one side. Top nut is sunk into the top of the handle. The metal scabbard has its large back hanging loop with a really nice period cover made from leather and sewn along the back. A very nice touch and most probably used to dull the knife from moonlight etc.
