Imperial German S98/05 Pattern Sawback Removed Bayonet. Mauser Marked Blade and Scabbard.

One of the 60'000 produced sawback bayonets by the firm Mauser. This example is, may i say, in lovely condition with the sawback removed blade having bright finish with no staining and clear makers details to one side and the spine with a clear 1916 inspection stamp. The cross guard and pommel have taken on a very dark patina as has the flash guard. Pommel has a clear Imperial inspection stamp and the bayonet fixing button works fine. Both wooden grips are in nice condition with just one knock to one side near the back , clear in the photographs folks! The scabbard is dent free and again with heavy patina and color. It is also stamped to the top for the Mauser firm so its close to a matching set! The supple leather frog has tight stitching and a Berlin makers stamp with the British Surname of Jackson, perhaps the guy who picked this up? This example i sold a couple of years back but has now come back to me in a swap so here's another chance to own a rather nice matching set.
