WW1 Wooden Toy. Wilnaer Arbeitsstatten. Lithuania.
Small hand painted wooden figure of a local Lithuanian child. To the bottom can be found the remains of a paper label. During the occupation of Wilna by the Germans during WW1 a factory was set up to help local children in need to produce certain items such as toys. The money was used to help the local children and German POW's etc. This example has good detail and remaining paint but at one point a cork has been used to repair the front foot. Figure stands around 4.5 inches in height.
The last photo shows the other type of figures produced!
