I believe this dates from around 1830 so could well be a William IV, pre regulation 1850 date. The condition is very good with the blade having a very nice amount of its finish with certain areas having rust bleed, good amount on the surface and some down to the metal. The blade is not maker marked but has a rack number 85, same number on the scabbard! Leather top washer still in place. The brass hilt has sharp detail and is free from dents and knocks, lion head also has sharp detail including his tounge sticking out. Lovely heavy patina present, this has not been cleaned for many years! The leather scabbard is complete with tight stitching and supple enough that when removing the blade the scabbard will bend, there is at least one weak spot from this bending but has not gone through, care must be taken when removing the sword. The top chape is loose as is the bottom, bottom is stamped with the number 85 so really we have a matching numbers set. The blade will not fit flush down the scabbard , its around 10 mm shy, i have not tried to remedy it ,as this is the exact issued scabbard then a little attention might well fix if needed.
