WW2 07 Bayonet. S294 WKC.43.

I believe the last of the contract 07 bayonets produced by Wilkinson Company in 1943. This example has a good blade, some staining with clear markings to one side including the contract code S294 over WKC and the remains of a very faint 43 date, the other side an inspection mark can just be made out. The hilt again with staining and just the slightest of surface rust powder, ive not tried to clean. Fixing button works fine. The wood handle slabs are stained with a couple of knocks. The scabbard is an American type found with Remingtons etc, at one point it has received a full coat of black finish all over including the rear leather slab with wire hanger, this has now worn back to the original factory finish in many areas. I might well have been able to find a 07 scabbard if i took time to sort through some boxes but in my opinion both bayonet and scabbard have been together for many years. Going through the ''net'' its suggested that the S294 bayonets was a Naval contract for the Lanchester, i will leave that one for the new owner!
