WW2 German Reissued M16 Combat Helmet.

This WW1 helmet was repurposed during the late 30's by the German military with the addition of an early, pre-war, double banded liner system. The shell at some point later than 1939, matching date on the three untampered liner pins, received a thick coat of rough flat grey finish, grit can be seen in the paint to the outside shell. Liner was not removed, evidence of this rough finish can be seen splashed onto the band . The period WW1 green factory finish can be seen to the inside crown. At some point after the last rough finish application the top vent and bottom chinstrap lugs where removed, another wartime renovation, who knows why. The shell is in solid condition with just one knock to the side near the back, inside the shell has loads of verdigris and a slight area of surface rust, ive not cleaned as i tend to leave items as i find them! Helmet with a lot of history and use from WW1 all the way through WW2 and a perfect fit for an easy restoration.
