WW2 British E.W.R. Homefront Steel Helmet. 1939.
The shell retains over 90% of its black factory finish, some minor surface rust bleed spotting. The front hand painted EWR letters are complete with a certain amount of wear, this wear has revealed the pencil marks that outlined the letters before the white paint application, nice touch in my opinion. Top nut has no evidence of tampering. Inside shell close to 100% of its factory paint. The liner is complete and supple with a felt top pad for a better more comfortable fit. I have not removed the padding but i can feel a loose top pad underneath and of course cannot see any maker or date stamps. Chinstrap complete and supple. The shell has a faint makers stamp and what looks like a 1939 date stamp. Going by the overall appearance of the helmet i would say this example is untouched and never messed with! As for the meaning of the front letters, sorry i haven't a clue!
