WW2 German M42 Single Decal Combat Helmet. Battle of the Bulge Veteran Bring Back.
The size 62 shell has over 95% of its period rough factory finish intact with the EF factory decal at over 90% complete with sharp detail and color. The liner pins are tight with the heads having 100% finish. The liner system is complete , supple but with some frailty especially to the fingers, going by the period liner string i would say the liner has had a light coat of some sort of preservative , im not talking heavy dark oil here just maybe some sort of wax to seal the liner from drying out. Late war chinstrap is complete and supple condition, i have left it over the helmets peak as i found it. There is a very weak, what looks like RB numbers, but only two struck, O/O and the grey steel buckle has most of its grey paint left. Helmet is stamped to the side, EF62 with the rear Lot number stating 421, first number is a weak strike and is either a ''0'' or a ''9''.
Found withing the crown where some photocopied military details relating to a Sgt G.J.Martin who died in 1999 at the age of 75, a veteran of Europe landing in France June 14th, awarded the Bronze star during operations in Metz and being sent home after receiving a wound during the Battle of the Bulge where apparently he picked up this very helmet, bringing it back as a souvenir. Sgt Martin served in the 3rd Infantry under Patton. Of course these details will come with the helmet.
