WW2 Japanese Pilots Flotation ''Meat Ball'' Flag.

Flag has suffered from poor storage with the central meatball coming adrift from the white background. Its almost as if the screen printed red color has weakened the very thin silk material in this area. The amount of damage im sure can be seen in the images with the flag in need of being displayed flat behind a glass frame. The entire surrounding tunnel to the edge of the flag has sections of buoyant kapok material with two corners having period ties and edge reinforcement. One corner has in pencil, ''Taken at Kohima, 2nd Battalion Durham LI'', I suppose its not that far fetched to see such a flag found in the area of the battle even though these flags where used by pilots if forced down into the ocean. Im selling as a a scarce Japanese flotation pilots flag thats in need of some TLC! Flag measures approx 29x39 inches.
p.s. May i add that these flags where made of the thinnest silk material, able to be folded down to a very small size where it could be kept in a small pocket in the pilots life jacket.
