Rare French Made Matching Numbers K98 Bayonet. JWH 42, Chatellerault.
The blade has around 90% of its period factory finish, loss of finish to the tip area. One sharpening run along the cutting edge only. Both sides at the top of the blade has clear stamp details that are matching to the scabbard. Blade spine is stamped 42. The steel hilt has over 905 factory finish with clear waffenampt stamps to the top of the pommel, fixing button works freely. Both bakelite handle grips are free from cracks or chips, one minor knock only. The steel scabbard has close to 100% period finish with no dents, bottom ball has a clear waffenampt stamp and as the blade both sides have clear stamps matching those of the blade. A super example of a French factory produced bayonet made under occupation. This example turned up recently during another house clearance in Cardiff.
