1940 Dated British MKII Desert Sand Camo Helmet. North Africa.

This example turned up last week having been found in the attic of a Cardiff house by the new owners. The outside finish is close to 75% complete with a good amount of rust bleed in certain areas and one lump of candle wax to the side just near a chinstrap rivet. The original coat of paint had a mix of sand applied when the finish was wet, this can clearly be seen to the lower skirt of the helmet, the rest having worn off with use. The inside liner system is complete and a ''tad'' hard with one inner arm having clear makers details and a 1940 date. The chinstrap is period to this helmet. I was going to remove the liner to give the inside clean but decided to keep it ''as is'' for the new collector. In my opinion this helmet would clean up very nicely if wishing. Nice to find a period North Africa campaign British helmet and not the usual S.African three hole examples.
