Hitler Youth Dagger, M7/80, Gustav C. Spitze, 1940.

This example was brought to me yesterday by a scrap dealer who found it amongst his scrap! The dagger is in good condition considering what its been through. The blade has some staining and dirt, top side even having some factory grain, the other side has a strange faint grind mark but cutting edge has not been over sharpened. Period leather blade buffer present. The hilt has some period finish under the verdigris with, as expected from a used example, a rubbed area where the closing strap holds against the pommel. The handle again full of dirt with the diamond having been forced out by the returning veteran, please see the remnants of the diamond fixing prong poking out. During the denazification the grip has been cracked, this is barley noticeable and i only spotted it after taking the photos. The steel scabbard has close to 50% of its factory black finish mixed in with rust bleed, leather hanger and closer strap is supple with a working top button missing its head. This example will clean up nicely with little effort and worthy of restoration or keeping its history ''as is''.
