19th Centuary Two Draw Binoculars. Thomas Harris and Son.

A very nice early pair of Binoculars with a'' two draw'' system that i have not seen before. As for condition, the body has its very nice complete leather cover including the cover to the top lens ends, one dent from a slight knock. Both sun screens have some of its period black finish. Both lens cap ends are maker marked to Harris and Son. There is a problem to the thread when trying to focus the optics, one washer has deteriorated to the bottom draw so i need to pull on the top lenses whilst moving the middle screw to raise and lower. The optics do focus and are clear optically and other than the said problem are a nice displayable set which date to around the 1850's. The period leather case is complete with strap and a very nice paper makers label to the inside top. Thomas Harris had moved address from his shop in front of the British Museum around 1850 so this set would make a nice display with any Zulu War or Boer War collection. Im going to sell these cheap as i would like them to go to someone who would spend time in restoring such an unusual early set or use them for display as it would be a shame for them to end up in a skip!
