WW1 RFC 51-HD-Squadron Ink Blotter.

Very nicely produced ink blotter made from worked brass and in my opinion part of an aircraft propeller. The hand etching is very well executed with a great set of RFC wings to the top of the plate, underneath states...51.H.D.SQdn. The brass turned handle screws off to allow the blotting paper to be fitted, its been used by evidence of the ink marks to the wood. 51 squadron where a Home Defence unit used to protect the UK from Zeppelin attacks.
