Attributed Military Cross and Bar, 30 Corps Signals, Battle Dress Blouse.
A 1941 dated New Zealand manufactured 37 pattern BD used by an officer, Albert Lawrence Field, who was part of 30 Corps Signals. The BD is in nice condition, its been used in the field, some grime to the collar area. Material has good nap with just a couple of tiny moth nips, hardly noticeable to the front. The back has some issues with one area having a couple of good chunks taken by moth, lets say much smaller than a 5p coin and an easy job if your good with a needle and thread. The area is stable and not weak. All insignia are period hand sewn and ''bedded'' into the BD material. The collar area has been opened up for officer use. Inside material is very clean with clear manufacture stamps. The collar area has some sweat staining from use as does the inner bottom edge. Ribbon bar is period applied.
This jacket was purchased by a friend from the family who decided to sell after the bereavement of a family member. I have been chasing it for over 8 months, my friend was promised Fields medals and he wanted to add them to eh BD, I was put on the ''back burner''. Last week my friend was informed by the family that they had sold the medals through an auction house, hence i can now offer here for sale. Not being a researcher and not willing to pay i can find little on Fields service except one mention in the Gazette supplement dating 1941 and a mention from another source that field was awarded an MC in the Middle East , June 17th, 1943 whilst an acting Captain in 30 Corps, Signals. Now is this the first award or second? As we know 30 Corps had an illustrious and hard fought war from the early campaign in the Middle East, Italy invasion, D-Day landings and Operation Market Garden. Fields ribbon bar suggests action in all! A Battle Dress worthy of any collection and with super research possibility.
