PRICE REDUCED! Early 1800's Naval Bosuns Starter/Persuader.
In very nice condition with the shaft made from whale baleen giving a certain amount of flexibility. The ends are weighted usually using spare shot from the ships magazine. The whole thing is then covered with intricate woven hemp or twine and covered completely with ships tar. The only issue is the break in the period hanging strap which is not that unusual for an item that could well be at least 200 years old. Measures 12 inches in length.
I use to collect these persuaders years ago and found my last two this week going through one of my collection boxes. Im keeping one, this example could be yours if your into British naval items. Just out of collector interest the last two photos are of the persuader im keeping as ive never seen this rope type before. I doubt many survived being mainly made from rope!
NOT FOR SALE TO UNDER 18's!
