Front Seam, Fixed Bale, M1 Steel Combat Helmet with Cross of Lorraine Liner

Lets start with the Firestone marked liner as in my opinion its the best bit. It would all seem to correspond to a late 43 or early 44 date of manufacture with steel coated liner washers, trimmed neck suspension band, nape strap without buckle, flat khaki liner tightening lace and the light khaki strapping. The leather chinstrap is in supple condition with all metal components made from brass. The liner is in well used condition with plenty of grease and staining from use, all webbing is still attached to the side rivets. You might notice the well used sweatband is fitted in a backwards position and im leaving ''as is'', the way i found it and to tell the truth does appear to have been in this position for quite some time. There is a faint name to leather of the band but i cannot make it out. The inner has some green paint splatter near the peak. The outer paint finish does have some paint loss as expected from use, no cracks or chips to the body. At some point this liner has had a red Cross of Lorraine hand painted to the front. It has wear consistent with a certain amount of time and use. The steel, fixed bales, front seam shell is again i would suggest dates from 43 to early 44 with a faint heat stamp to the inner front of the shell, i cannot make it out. There is one knock to the crown and the shell still has a very nice amount of its period cork finish. At some point the outside and inside of the shell has had a second coat of dark green finish added. No chinstrap present.
