WW2 German U Boat Award. L/56, Funcke and Bruninghaus.

Early zinc manufactured award with sharp detail and some finish remaining. The rear does have its period hardware but the bottom catch has come adrift. I could myself repair it but would not be a satisfactory job imho! This is in need of a good restoration that will do the badge justice. Its my opinion the catch was not secured enough during manufacture as seen by the remains of the fixing solder on the back of the badge and the slight bleed of the gold wash getting just under the catch. So a cheap alternative to what was a £300 example.
