M40 ET64 Austrian Border Guard Helmet.
Nice wartime ET manufactured helmet with its period wartime liner system and chinstrap utilised from a wartime web equipment strap. The shell has over 90% of its grey finish to the outside with lots of wear from use, inside finish is close to 100%. Two small holes have been drilled into the shell to take the flaming bomb badge used by Austrian border guards. The inside wartime liner is complete with one small tear, couple of tongue have pulled through, one has come adrift to the tip, its named and has a large size stamp 56.The liner string again a nice wartime example. Another nice addition is the use of a wartime equipment strap as a chinstrap, both ends being riveted to the chinstrap bales. Side of the helmet is stamped ET64, rear lot number is 1074. Inside skirt has an ink stamp number 1098. The Austrians used lots of wartime shells in the late 1940's postwar and they come with various liner systems from civilian to wartime examples.
