West German Experimental Paratrooper Helmet.
The outside shell has close to 100% of its light grey finish with minor surface scratches only, shell is dent free. Two of the four first pattern liner bolts have full finish, the other two have remnants of the grey finish. The inside liner system is complete with two minor tears to the leather near the back. Liner has turned a darkish brown from use. All four inner bolt nuts are green in finish unlike the bolts found in the example i recently sold, item number 60370, that where uncoated brass. The chinstrap system has some damage with the long end having the popper cut off with the other side having a repair holding on the buckle. Popper retainer from the short end strap also removed. These early experimental helmets went into production from 1955 until 1961 and based on the WW2 examples, around 2400 being produced. The helmet was replaced in 1961 with the new Model 71. The last of these experimental lids from my collection, ive enjoyed it now its time for it to end up in on another shelf to enjoy.
