The bright dagger blade has its factory point with minimal staining and top throat marks. Both side etch panels have sharp detail and most of the period grey background finish. The makers etch details are sharp including the logo. The cross guard has a very nice amount of period finish with some wear to the end balls as expected. Top pommel eagle again with a very nice amount of period finish and sharp detail. The white handle has no chips or cracks and no staining, grip wire is complete without wear. The period applied golden colored knot is in very nice condition with the only wear i can see to the top along the bottom of the pommel. Fixing button has a nice spring and is tight. The brass scabbard has no dents and minor stains with just a little residue from previous polishing, one side nut missing from the scabbard throat. A very nice example and even better in my opinion in that i managed to purchase this last weekend from the grandson of Naval signalman Norma Leigh Evans who served on Motor Torpedo Boats and Motor Launches. From 30/8/43 till 01/3/44 serving on ML490, 18/5/44 till 31/3/45 on board MTB723, lastly serving on MTB5009. I have this information from the Grandson who showed me his service record on his phone , i managed to take a photo of it and this will be sent over to the new owner. Im sorry to say that the Grandson has info on where and when his Grandfather picked the dagger up during WW2.
