WW2 NFS National Fire Service Tunic.
This double breasted tunic with dark blue melton wool body is in nice worn condition. The nap to the material is very good with only one or two little areas of moth tracking, will take you some time to find these areas. The NFS buttons are period applied as one side has had the buttons sewn to the jacket before the liner was applied. Top boards ave one rank bar each. The stand up collar has both eye hooks, slight wear to the edging from use. The back has its two NFS buttons and both metal steel ramps. The inside lining is complete , no label remains and the only info i can find is the ''R12'' to both sides of the inner lining and one found inside a sleeve lining, perhaps used during construction. Jacket will need a brush down as this example has been stored for a number of years. As for size i will give it ago but please be aware these are approximates only with the jacket laying flat.
Across the shoulders-22 inches.
Across the waist area-22 inches.
Top of collar to the jacket bottom back-31 inches.
Sleeve length-24 inches.
May i add the front badge i believe is a reproduction and is hand sewn so an easy remove if wishing. Jacket was purchase from a guy who showed his WW2 fire engine many years ago.
