Vintage Scottish Stag Horn Sgian Dubh Knife.

Knife measures just under 7.5 inches in length. The blade has staining and some wear to the tip as expected from such an old example. Ive checked to see if there is any details under the rust bleed at the bottom under the cross guard but cannot see any. Both cross guard and end bolster appear to be made from copper , or could be well stained brass. Antler handle is in fine undamaged condition. The leather scabbard is supple with one split down the side, appears to be from the blade being drawn clumsily. What i really like about this example is the plain design without any of the usual ''bling'' and appears to be the type any old farmer, woodsman or clansman would have in his sock for when needed and might well have been made by a local smithy. As for age im going to say at lest late Victorian, well thats my guess folks.
