WW1 German 1898/05 Sawback Bayonet. High Ears.
A nice scarce early ''high ears'' example with the Simson & Co marked blade having some dark staining, factory edge and sharp profile to the top teeth, spine has a 1915 date. The metal hilt again with an overall dark finish, one waffenampt stamp and a working top button. Both wooden grips are chip and crack free. Leather scabbard has hardened but all stitching is tight and complete. Both end metal fittings dark with plenty of patina. The faint 1915 dated leather frog is supple with one area of damage where the leather has split, this is repaired the old way coated in what might be boot polish. A very nice e and scarce example for sure.
