1944 Dated Australian Slouch Hat with Parachute Cargo Chord Puggaree.

I would suggest that this example has been worn but light service wear. The felt body has one good moth nip to the top area on one side but this has not gone through, you might find a couple of very light track marks but nothing that stands out, inside again just some minor track marks. Color to the felt is still bright. The puggaree has been removed and added is what i believe to be the remains of the chord used during cargo drops of the time and appears to have been on the slouch for a very long time. The inside leather sweatband has clear markings including the 44 date, serial and code numbers. Leather chinstrap is complete and in supple condition. I may add that the cap has been stored as my friend found it many years ago having a rather flat appearance when not on a ''head''.
