WW1 French Haversack Manufactured from a WW1 German Zeltbahn

This appears to have been constructed from a German zeltbahn as seen by the remaining buttons and corner grommets all machine stitched to form a haversack. It appears complete other than the broken front leather closure strap. The soldier has put his name to the back and his initials to the front, no much faded. Perhaps produced at the front for use at the wars end for his trip home or and economy item at the front line use, im of the opinion this item might well have been constructed for a returning POW.
