British WW1, Brodie, MK1 Steel Helmet. Named.
This WW1 helmet has a good amount of its green rough finish intact, lets say at least 60% with id say at least 75 green paint mixed in with some surface rust where the paint at some point has gone down to the steel. Outer rim fits perfectly but has had a couple of knocks during its life. Cannot find any evidence of knocks to the outer shell.Perhaps one knock right against the top rivet or is this the shell manufacture stamping? The inside brim has close to all its factory finish, cannot see whats left of the inner dome paint due to the liner . Brim has a sharp stamp..M&S with number 052. The owner has penciled his name to one side which is rather neat! The liner system appears complete and rather supple as is the complete chinstrap. Inside the liner can be found the red ink designation stamps. Inner net is apparent. The leather fixing cross strap is solid and surrounded by its orange felt ring that has had a number of moth nips over the years but nothing major. All in all a very nice combat worn example with few issues, mainly down to storage and age.
