Rare WW2 German Matching Numbers K98 Bayonet and Leather Frog. Letter Code '' i '' Elite Diamant.
The blade has close to all its blueing with loss to the tip area from being taken out of the scabbard over time and some slight spotting to the blued finish. One side of the blade has a serial number 4767, matching to the scabbard, and the rare latter code '' i '' to the other, used for one years in 1941 by the firm Elite Diamant, again matching to the scabbard. Spine has a clear 41 date. The hilt has most of the factory finish with some loss and minor spotting with the pommel having two clear waffenampt stamps. Both bakelite grip plates have no chips or cracks just some minor stains. The scabbard has one minor knock, hard to see, most of its finish with some underneath rust bubbling. Both sides to the throat have matching stamps to the bayonet. The leather scabbard i wouls suggest is its period example, in supple condition with tight stitching and all rivets. Elite Diamant, bicycle manufacturer, used this '' i'' stamp for only one year with a production run of 25,000 so a very rare example!
