WW1 German SG84/98 Bayonet. Gottlieb Hammesfahr/ Bayard Knight.
This bayonet was found recently during a local clearance with the just listed Remington 1913 bayonet, item number-62868. The blade retains its bright finish with a mix of slight staining. The factory edge might have has one extra grind, perhaps. One side of the blade is stamped to the manufacture company of Gottlieb Hammersfahr with the other side having a slight stamp of a knight riding a horse for the Belgium ''Under occupation'' firm of Henri Peipe & Co who manufactured blank blades for German industry. Top of the spine has a clear 17 date stamp with crown. The cross guard hand pommel have some finish mixed in with the remains of rust bleed. Top button works fine. Both wooden slab grips have plenty of patina and a couple of bruises but no chops or cracks with both screws in untouched condition. The steel scabbard has some finish showing thru rust bleed with one tiny knock. Again a good example thats worthy of some slight TLC to bring the finish back up.
NOT FOR SALE TO UNDER 18'S AND UK ONLY. PROOF OF AGE WILL BE REQUIRED.
