Scarce Russian Ssh-36 Steel Combat Helmet. 1936/37. NO PAYPAL PAYMENT!!
This early manufactured example has over 85% of its hand brushed dark green paint finish to the outside shell with one area of paint lose to the top left hand side. Shell is free from any dents or cracks. The inside again has this hand painted finish, im not going to open the sock type liner string but with a torch it would appear this finish has also been applied to the inside complete. The shell has a cold stamp number to the rear, looks like 1315 with a number ''1'' placed side wards in front. This early number system would date the helmet to at least 1937 and its my opinion dates to 1936 as this side wards numbering was removed in 1937 soon after having the numbers stamped to the side of the helmet. The early liner system is complete with some minor wear, cloth sock has loads of patina and dirt from many years of use and storage. This helmet comes with a leather chinstrap, early Ssh helmets apparently came with leather straps until replace with webbed examples due to the fragile nature of the leather. Chinstrap has two cracks as seen but these are to the surface only, mind you the end of one side that rubs against the chinstrap bale has split, just holding on to the bale, so extra care will be needed when handling for sure. I have spent many hours searching for information on such an early example to no avail especially the early leather chinstraps. This in my opinion is a rare early example with a couple of issues but worthy of any helmet collection.
