WW2 Kriegsmarine Tropical Shorts. Bridgend POW Camp Interest.

Shorts have been well used and faded with minor wear to the material . The side straps have lost there buckles with three buttons missing and three replaced with period metal buttons to the fly area. All top belt loops present and as you can see in the photos the front watch pocket is missing. Inside can be found the unusual KM use of a smaller pocket sewn to the inside pocket flap. Faded makers stamp and sizing numbers can be seen to the inner top band front. These i purchased from a local old time collector i know who purchased, 20 years ago, some uniform items from a lady in Swansea who was selling items that once belonged to a former German POW who was held at Bridgend POW camp. Apparently the soldier had no family left at the end of the war with his home town being occupied by the Russians, he decided to settle locally becoming one of the many ex POW's who worked in the local mines in the valley's of South Wales.
