RAF C-Type Flying Helmet and MK8 Goggles, Sgt Derrick Norrington DFM, KIA 1943.

The helmet is in nice condition condition with supple body and tight stitching to the seams. One receiver cup has lost its stitching holding to the body with its bottom slightly pocking out from the inside ring padding, other than that its complete with some slight staining. The two grey felt pads to both cups look as if they were intentionally made to keep them from being missed shaped so they stay as is. The Mk8 goggles have seen better days being well used with the leather at some point being glued back onto the brass frames, im thinking this can be an easy removal if wishing or leave as is as they display well enough with the helmet. I purchased this set at my local show recently with some other items all being sold separately that once belonged to a Sgt Derrick Norrington who was killed in 1943 as a navigator when his Lancaster was shot down by Oblt Manfred Meurer 3/NJG-1. I managed to purchase also his gloves and neck scarf and wished i had bought some hardback navigation teaching books with Norrington's details penned to them! The other items are also in well used condition and i presume where discarded for better examples during his time in service, they are also added to the website!
