3rd Pattern Commando Dagger.
This one at some pint had the handle redone using leather washers much like the WW2 American dagger handle pattern. The machine ground blade as been re-tipped, sides sharpened with a good amount of it's dark finish remaining with some slight surface rust. Cross guard has most of it's finish mixed in with this slight surface rust. Leather handle is solid without dryness or shrinkage with the top pommel taking some grind when the handle was shaped so no evidence of any mold numbers. Top nut is solid and the type found on period examples. The scabbard is supple, wings gone and elastic removed with the addition of a leather fixing strap. I cannot date this example , please keep this in mind. An interesting remodeled knife that's for sure .
