GSM Malaya Clasp Medal and Paperwork / Photo Grouping. Rhondda Interest.
A good large grouping of paperwork and photos relating to M.J.Thomas who served two years in Malaya from 1952 to 1954. Thomas served with 15th Field Park Squadron R.E., this unit was quite active during the Emergency clearing areas for bases in the jungle during operations and clearing out Chinese squatters from cites to stop them helping the Communist guerillas. There is a lot of items ,cannot go through it all but will start at with the medals. The GSM is named around the rim....22774720, SPR M.J.THOMAS R.E. and is in nice condition, it's been cleaned, with this comes an Emergency Malay commemorative medal, unnamed. You will find a damaged playbook and red certificate of service book, all two with details on Thomas. There are numerous certificates from Thomas's school including one army education cert dated 1953. Most of the rest relates to army service and medal awarded. There are around 60 loose photos mainly taken during his Malayan service , couple of Thomas as a kid during WW2 dress in uniform and wearing a kids steel helmet. The large Malayan purchased photo album, front cover broken off, has over 150 photos again mainly relating to his service as a plant operator including jungle clearance and squatter building demolition, nice detail if your into what the R.E. got up to in Malaya. There is more folks and I'm going to say it's a rather interesting grouping that I purchased off the son of the veteran only last week. Thomas is the guy standing on the right in the last photo I've added of the group.
