WW2 RAF Group Captains Peaked Cap.

Scarce example of a mid war Bates produced Group Captains cap in used condition. The blue body material has a good amount of fading to certain areas with no moth damage. Peak and chinstrap has a certain amount of crazing with the front bullion wreath having tarnished over the years. Inside again in used condition with the complete sweatband that is rather dark from plenty of sweat and a one inch area of loose stitching. Top green felt has a clear Bates logo along with a matching one on the sweatband and the remains of the top sweat shield that has now broken and shriveled. Front badge has been removed! So a period WW2 manufactured cap, who knows why it's in such used condition, but certainly the officer didn't spend the War in an office. A perfect cap only waiting for the addition of it's front badge.
